Alpstein Hike Äscher-Ebenalp
Enjoy on this medium difficulty tour a tasty menu in the famous mountain restaurant Aescher, walk through the impressive Wildkirchli caves and fly back with the Ebenalp cable car.
From the railway station in Schwende, this tour passes the church of St. Martin in a westerly direction up to Eugst. A wide path leads to Alp Bommen and further to Gartenwald. At the branching of the path, you turn left and, with the most beautiful panoramic view of Kamor, the Hohen Kasten and the extended rock wall of Alp Sigel, you will see the Äscher mountain restaurant. It can be found directly on the vertical cliff of the Ebenalp.
Afterwards you reach the caves of the Wildkirchli. First you reach the altar cave, in front of which stands a wooden bell tower from the 19th century. Then you pass through the caves, which leads to Ebenalp. The Wildkirchli Caves gained worldwide fame through prehistoric artefacts from the Stone Age. Skeletons of cave bears and stone tools are witnesses to the hunters who lived here in primeval times. Then climb up to the plateau of Ebenalp. Take your time and enjoy the impressive panoramic view before you fly down to the valley on the aerial cableway.
