Carl Böckli (born 23 September 1889 in St. Gallen; died 4 December 1970 in Heiden) was a writer, caricaturist and editor. He became famous for his work for the “Nebelspalter”, the oldest satirical magazine in the world. Under the abbreviated name “Bö”, he published dedicated statements against National Socialism, Fascism and Communism. Böckli lived in Heiden from 1936 to 1970. He died as a result of a car accident not far from his, and our, house.
Everyone in the Appenzeller Vorderland knows Restaurant Bö’s at Hotel Heiden. People come to enjoy the sophisticated but homely cuisine. It is also the perfect place for that special meeting. For example, a fondue outdoors on our sun terrace. What could be nicer than the feeling of hot cheese and wine melting in the belly whilst gazing at the night sky wrapped in warm blankets, hat and hot water bottle? Total Swissness.
Panorama dining room
The “Panorama”, practically the hotel restaurant within the hotel, has the perfect name. Enjoy the roaming views across the lake over breakfast. Rumours have it that in fine weather, you can even see the cathedral in Ulm with binoculars from the local church tower. Whether this is true or not: both the view and the food are a pleasure to see. Homely, as perfect as the Bö’s and fitting for the standard of the hotel.
